The back story

About Búzios: a peninsula of beaches

Armação dos Búzios is a peninsula on the coast east of Rio, with small beaches in its many coves and a lively old fishing village at its heart, where the Rua das Pedras fills at night (buzios.rj.gov.br).

Getting there

By bus from the Rodoviária Novo Rio, or by car east along the coast.

The beaches

Small beaches in every cove; take a boat trip to see several in a day.

Búzios is a long day from Rio; stay a night if you can.

The village

The Rua das Pedras and the Orla Bardot along the bay, busiest in the evening.

Our advice: stay at least one night; Búzios is too far for a comfortable day trip.
