Behind Ipanema and Leblon, the Lagoa Rodrigo de Freitas lies under the Corcovado; around it, Jardim Botânico and Gávea are leafy neighbourhoods of houses and low buildings, with the Botanic Garden, Parque Lage and the forest above. Cosme Velho, to the east, is where the train leaves for the Christ.
